Description & Duties

*Assist dentist at all times during examinations and treatment of patients.

*Record and review medical and dental histories

*Ensure chart/treatment notes are recorded in patient's chart along with charges rendered.

*Stock dental operatories and prepare for exam/treatment.

*Monitor inventory and assist in ordering dental supplies as needed.

*Perform x-rays as needed for dentist.

*Securely store and handle patient records in compliance with the state and federal requirements, including the HIPPA privacy and security regulations.

*Utilize proper infection control techniques in the cleaning, sterilization, and handling of dental instruments. Conduct spore testing according to established policy, document results, and report abnormal results.

*Promptly send out and monitor all dental laboratory cases.

*Track cases and referrals to and from other dentist/doctors.

*Assist in the administration of the recall system.

*Implement the preventative maintenance/cleaning schedule for dental equipment.

*Participate in the quality management process and incorporate quality management activities into all aspects of clinical practice in order to meet JCAHO guidelines and other clinical quality measures.

*Help in other areas of the dental office when necessary (answering phones, unpacking supplies, completing insurance forms, etc.)
